Spitfire Update 27.9.19

Parnall Aircraft Company

Monday evening saw our first friends & family event which was attended by 40 people. It was very well received and a lot of people left very impressed with the place and what was being undertaken. Others are planned as the interest is high.

The engine mount has taken a leap forward with the delivery of tubes and end fittings, seen here with the already refurbished horseshoe assembly. These have come from Historic Flying at Duxford. The riveting of the fuselage skins progresses, the two most forward being next in line for work.

The next batch of painted parts has arrived back and will be incorporated into the cockpit and fuel tank bay. Additionally, Paul has all but finished the emergency blowdown bottle assembly, very convincing it looks too.

The starboard wing has now been reduced to kit form ready for painting, all except the spars which will be painted here. Whilst this is being carried out then attention turns to the port wing and repeating the procedure.
