Our mission within the Parnall Bio Engineering project is to disrupt conventional construction patterns in a way to force positive change. The challenge was to innovate a versatile building structure that offered phenomenal structural and energy performance, environmental credibility and capacity to be self powering through integrated renewable energy generation. Our innovation led to the creation of HEMPOSITE™, a novel ‘in-to-out’ structural panel design concept, utilising precision off-site fabrication of structural components, rapid on-site assembly and made up almost entirely of sustainable natural materials.
Other industries such as automotive have advanced rapidly whilst construction methods have remained largely stagnant through the last century and is therefore in need of reform. HEMPOSITE™ offers a profound solution to facilitate that evolution.
TESLA are without doubt one of the most disruptive pioneering companies of the 21st century; they have not only developed a substantial following of their own brand but they have empowered the consumer to demand a faster rate of change from the whole automotive industry. TESLA has ignited the EV movement.
What is Tesla’s mission? Simple: WE WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD. Before us, cars were powered by diesel or gasoline; after us, they will be electric. As simple as that. Tesla’s mission is not to sell cars, or even to sell batteries, it goes much further. Its mission is to anticipate the future, a much better future, and to make it easier for us to think about how to get there”.
Building a strong following and making an impact often stems from strong leadership and a dogged determination to disrupt. Elon Musk once said: “If somebody comes and makes a better electric car than Tesla, and it’s so much better than ours that we can’t sell our cars and we go bankrupt, I still think that’s a good thing for the world, the whole point of Tesla is to accelerate the advent of electric vehicles and sustainable transport. We’re trying to help the environment, we think it’s the most serious problem that humanity faces.”
HEMPOSITE™ is a the beginning of a long journey; how does it develop a powerful following? Perhaps the answer lies in being first to establish a new standard for both energy efficiency and use of sustainable natural materials. Successful commercialisation must come first of course. Our current focus is the continued visual identity development of HEMPOSITE™ which is critical piece of work that will contribute to growing a following. Shortly, a programme of composite R + D will also kick off soon as we move into the prototype development and testing phase of the business. (Photo copyright TESLA)
